A door you can't open
is a thirty minute problem.

Whether you cannot get in or cannot lock up behind you, both are urgent and both are what we do. Priced entirely over the phone, attended in about thirty minutes.

Six things that go wrong with a door

All of them urgent, all of them attended the same day, and none of them anything to do with alarms, doors or renovation quotes.

A wooden front door beside a white wall

You're standing outside

The single most common call. The lock is opened without force wherever it can be, so you are not paying for a replacement on top of the visit.

Most doors · open undamaged

Half the key came out

A snapped blade leaves the rest sitting in the mechanism. Pulled out on site, and the lock tested afterwards to make sure nothing was bent in the process.

Removed · and tested
A white door on a brick building

It shuts but it doesn't lock

A door that will not throw its bolt cannot be left. This is treated as urgently as a lockout, because the consequence is the same size.

Attended · as urgent

Three in the morning

Night work is not an add-on service with a different crew. The overnight roster is the same operation, and the rate is quoted before dispatch.

Overnight · every night

Stuck in the lobby

Shared entrances, stairwell doors and the ones controlled by a building manager rather than you. We handle the permissions rather than sending you to find them.

Shared · entries covered

Somebody forced the door

After a break-in the priority is making the place secure tonight, not booking a tidy appointment for Thursday. New hardware fitted before we leave.

How it works

Thirty minutes, broken into four parts

FirstYou ring

A ninety second conversation

What the door is doing, what sort of lock it has, and whether anybody is trapped behind it. That is enough to quote.

SecondWe price it

One figure, no conditions

Everything included, night loading declared, and it is fixed at that point. Changing it later is not something we do.

ThirdWe arrive

Around the half hour mark

You are told a name before anyone leaves, and that person identifies themselves and confirms the address is yours.

FourthYou pay

Only once it's resolved

Nothing up front and nothing on account. Payment when the door works, tax invoice emailed straight afterwards.

Before you book anyone

Four things to establish before anybody drives out.

A person locked out at night has almost no leverage, and that is precisely the moment a bad operator re-prices the job. Settle these on the phone instead.

  • Insist on a single, final figureEverything in one number: attendance, labour, GST, night rate. If the answer contains the words ‘starting from’, keep ringing.
  • Take a name and a licence numberThen confirm it matches whoever knocks. This takes ten seconds and removes the most common problem in the trade.
  • Establish the position on drillingDrilling means new hardware and a bigger invoice. Most doors do not need it, and the choice belongs to you before work starts.
  • Refuse to pay anything in advanceNo deposits, no card over the phone. Settle when the job is finished and make sure an itemised invoice follows.

Questions we get on the phone

Straight answers

Does opening it damage the door?

Usually not at all. The great majority of domestic locks can be opened without force and go on working normally. Where the hardware is high-security or already failed, drilling may be unavoidable — you will be told the cost implication before anything starts.

What proof of address do you need?

Photo identification showing the address, or failing that a tenancy agreement, a rates notice or addressed mail. We ask on every single job and we do not make exceptions.

Is there really someone working overnight?

Every night of the year. The overnight shift is rostered in advance rather than being a diverted phone, which is what makes a thirty minute window realistic at 3am.

Someone is trapped inside. What's the priority?

Say so in the first sentence and everything else waits. If there is a genuine risk to a child, an elderly person or an animal, ring 000 in parallel — emergency services will arrive quicker and open the door without hesitation.

Are night call-outs charged differently?

Yes, and the night figure is the one quoted to you upfront. Where the situation can safely wait for daylight we will tell you, because a morning attendance costs you less.

Can the lock be replaced during the same visit?

It can, and after a forced entry it usually should be. Replacement hardware is carried as standard so the property is not left unsecured overnight.
